...cepts the fact that death could come at any moment. Maybe the reason that she accepts it is because of the times that she lived in, because she was a puritan or maybe both. As I read this poem I got the feeling that her attitude towards the situation was like it was just another day. I think that she probably thought about the situation quite a bit and was okay with it. I also think that she is worried that her children might forget about her, who she was, what she did in life, and I think that scares her. In the other poem, " Here Follows Some Verses upon he Burning of Our House" she talks about her house burning down and how she accepts it and is not angry. In lines 16-20, " Yeah, so it was and so 'twas just. It was His own, it was not mine, Far be it that I should repine; He might of all justly bereft But yet sufficient for us left. " She clearly states that she accepts everything God does. She talks about how she was in bed, she heard the fire and she was scared but God gave her courage to be strong. She says that she was standing outside of the house and everything she owned was in ashes at her feet, yet she is okay with everything that has happened. As I read through this poem, I saw a distinct common theme between these two poems, sadness and strength.
