Anaylsis of teenagers entering adulthood through the use of short stories

The last comparison between Connie and the kids in the mall is being unaware of their identity or goals. When adolescents are left at the mall they are exploring and are open minded to different opportunities in life. Spending too much time at the mall does not set high, prestigious goals for the future. Kowinski discusses about a teenage girl, who works in the mall and was interviewed by CBS reporters, how she concentrates on making the perfect curl on the top of her ice cream. When parents send their kids to the mall, “…it shouldn’t be surprising that in spending a lot of time there, adolescents find little that challenges the assumption that the goal of life is to make money and buy products, or that just about everything else in life is to be used to serve those ends.” This implies that a child should be challenged in life and should know how to make money and buy products wisely; it’s a way of making a living.
