Although the idea of a four-story cosmetics store does not sound so radical, the new thinking by C.J Walker allowed 3000 African-American women and men to manufacture and sell cosmetics. The building that was four stories high with a terra cotta brick and finely decorated with brightly colored African American masks that gave the building a strong majestic symbol for African Americans throughout Indiana. The building now called the `Walker Theatre` has become a social and cultural headquarters to African American people throughout Indiana. C.J walker was America÷Õ most successful African American women of pre-war America.
