Similarly Hortensio and Grumio are having a conversation about Bianca, how she can’t marry anyone until “Katherine the curst” (Katherine the shrew) marries. Thus these two scenes create the impression that Kate is a shrew and that their impression to others are similar. Although both Kate’s are common in some ways they are also different in others. When Mr. Stratford made up the rule about Bianca not going to the party if Kat didn’t, Bianca begged and persuaded Kat to go saying “do it for me” Kat finally decided to go. This is a big step for Kat because she does not approve of the idea of a ‘party’ whereby getting wasted. However Katherine’s relationship with Bianca isn’t like Kat’s and Bianca, in Act 2 scene 1 Katherine has Bianca’s hands tied and Katherine refuses to untie her sister. Hence they created the impression that one would be harder to tame than the other. In the same ways Petrcuhio and Patrick are parallel; they both try and win Kate over. They both are trying to achieve the same goal and are also tempted and asked in the same ways. Hortensio tells Petruchio of this woman who is very shrewish but is very wealthy because Petruchio comes to Padua to seek a wife. ...
