Moreover, we can feel much about the Chinese culture in the participation in their Spring Festival Day. Anyway, rituals and ceremonies do help define a culture. However, ancestors are so wise that they use not only limited numbers of ways like rituals or ceremonies to preserve their culture but also other methods. Consider the example of Afro-Americans. Ancestors of African people developed such advanced ways (music or poet, for instance) of conveying their culture to their descendants that Afro-Americans kept their culture effectively even under cruel oppression of European Americans. Even today we can appreciate the aesthetic value and rhythm of their music. Music is a very efficient way of conveying culture because no writing records are needed to preserve it, and what it needs is just human mind. Since human mind will exist forever, music, with its unimaginable functions, will also exist permanently, and the culture conveyed by it will survive as well. Therefore, Afro-Americans, hardly with any kinds of formal rituals and ceremonies, necessarily preserved their culture, and their sense of who they are is not diminished. Additionally, rituals and ceremonies, which have existed for such a long history, have been affected by technology innovations, and performance less effectively in the function of defining a culture.
