How Religion Effected Me

...Now that I am preparing to graduate and move on to college and the world, I have come to grips with the fact that God is more than a resource for me. God is my source. There is a difference. Resources are in connection to other things. On the other hand, when something is the source, it stands along side nothing else, nor does i originate from anything else. My religious background developed this sense of spirituality in my life. God is not my resource. God is my source. Second, my religious heritage has brought me to a place of spiritual maturity where I know the mandate of responsibility. I realize that while God blesses us through other people (resources) that there comes a time in life where the individual must be accountable for taking the initiative to blaze their own trial, and be the drum major of their own life’s parade. My bible study would call this stewardship- the act of being responsible for the things that God has entrusted to every individual. This would fall under the Durrett 2 category of my time, which should not be wasted. My talent, which should be exercised and used for God’s glory.
