...nd. Varied material kept the service from being dull, and each group member participated in the reading of quotes, poems, stories and explanations with enthusiasm. As for the class reaction, the service was met with appreciation and interest. There was minimal talking, perhaps due to the continuous music, and students did as asked when it came to journal writing and silent reflection. If the service reached only one person in the class, it was worthwhile. Choices regarding one’s faith, values and actions all make up his or her spirituality, and was a relevant theme for the prayer service, adding greatly to the spiritual journey of those in 8th grade. People of all ages are forced to make decisions every day that are both easy and difficult – even some that they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. This message was communicated appropriately from the minute the service began. The class was able to feel involved as they made their own way to the chapel, listening to upbeat music playing in the background. Subsequent instrumental pieces allowed the students to listen with a peaceful mind to the readings and reflections going on around them.
