Why CD should not be banned

Banning students from using CD players during class might not suppress creativity as much if school officials did not challenge the pupils for having music players on campus even before the school day begins. Music players and headphones are prohibited at school. For this reason they are taken up immediately if seen on a student by any member of the school staff. Cell phones pose more of a problem before and after school than CD players. Equipped with more features, most cell phones can run games and play music while CD players are designed only for playing music. Also, other schools have allowed students to bring music players to school as long as they are not played during in class. Some of the schools that allow students to bring CD players to school as long as they are not on during class include: Northview High School in Duluth, Georgia, and Champion Christian School in Champion, Pennsylvania. GHS should follow these schools’ examples and amend the rule. Studies within the last fifteen years have proven the education stimulating value of music on today’s youth. Music also allows students to relax before and after school. Classical music helps students in the learning process, but since school officials have prohibited CD players, the chance to listen to classical music to relax before class does not exist.
