The good, the bad, the gun

...e of access they have. I think that all begins with the parent in the household. Parents should be more aware of what is going on. I mean, if they just leave their gun lying around the house, it shows a lack of responsibility. Children are very curious and if they stumble across a gun, they could mistake for a toy, and decide to try it out. Young children die or get severely injured because their parents don’t store their firearms property. It’s not the kid’s fault, at that age they don’t know the difference. I think that the most emotional type of weapon carrying is when is happens in schools. In the early mid-1990’s it was reported that each school day 100,00, 135,00, or even 186,000, children carried guns to school. Studies show that gunplay at school kills 20 to 30 youths a year. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but just imagine the amount of pain that the parents of those children who were murdered must feel. And imagine the amount of pain and regret the parents of the child carrying the gun must feel. Another big problem about guns is that innocent people die. Some people are just at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Some people are caught in the middle of a shooting and die. Take Columbine, for example. Innocent teachers and students died, for no reason at all. It could have been any high school, and it’s scary to think, but it’s the reality of it. Two girls from our school good do the exact same thing, if they have access to guns, and that is why we must support gun control. I think there are other solutions, than guns, and I don’t think they solve problems. If you’re in a fight with someone and things aren’t going your way are you just going to shoot them? What will that solve? What will that prove? The murders in Colorado brought up a lot of questions due to the access of firearms. Legal access to guns has dramatically tightened in the last 30 years. At one time, you could order guns in the mail. Kids could lie about their age to get a gun. I don’t think that having an access to a gun is the whole problem. When it comes to young children, they don’t know the difference. But, in the case of Columbine, young children weren’t the ones who were shooting. They were boys, teenage boys, who know right from wrong. Puberty is defiantly a time when hormones are flowing and boys do stupid, aggressive and extreme things. I think most boys look up to their fathers. So, as a father it is their responsibility to teach them. They need to sit them down and teach them that aggression is not the right solution. A father must show and teach his son to control his temper and to treat others with respect. I mean, taking a gun to school and shooting people because your upset is the most disrespectful thing to do ever. I think boys watch more violent movies and play more violent video games than girls do, which of course has...
