...indows. My aunt stopped her car in the middle of the road and I jumped out and ran up to where everyone was standing. Most of my family was already there, everyone tried to comfort me with tears in their eyes as I broke down. It is an unexplainable feeling to feel so helpless, to watch everything in your life burn in front of your eyes and not being able to do anything about it. At my age I hadn’t experienced much loss in my life; my entire view of life was changed from that day forward. The aftermath of the fire was the worst part. Once the firemen had finished making sure the fire was totally out, they allowed us to enter our home. When we walked through our front door everything was black as coal and the smell of fire was overwhelming. I first walked into my room to see if any of my toys or animals had survived. There wasn’t much left in the room just toys lying on the floor thrown there by the firemen when they were trying to put out the fire. I found my hermit crab cage that was made of plastic, it had melted down over the shells of the crabs, my cat was also killed in the fire along with some frogs that me and my cousin had recently caught.
