What makes someone insane? After Pottawatomie and Harper’s Ferry the public characterized John Brown as an insane murderer. Someone who believes in the rights of people even if they are a different race, religion, sex or ethnicity, and fights for those rights should be considered a hero. John Brown was just as insane as the crazy slave owners who sell, beat, rape, use, and shame innocent people for there skin color. Shouldn’t people like that be considered insane, and people like John Brown be considered heroic. My verdict of John Brown after reading the novel Cloudsplitter by Russell Banks, was that he was a religious fanatic, he was admirable, and he was slightly irrational. ... That is how I felt about John Brown after reading Cloudsplitter. ...
In conclusion, it is true that John Brown and his family had many psychotic attacks but it is not right of people to call them insane.
