Bathsheba couldn’t help falling in love, which hurt the other two men deeply. At last, Bathsheba married Sergeant Troy. But he left her after Fanny Robin, who he liked most, died. On the Christmas, the day when Bathsheba planed to accept Mr.Boldwood’s proposal, Troy appeared. Mr.Boldwood shot him to die and confessed to his crime. And he was sent to prison for life. Gabriel always loved Bathsheba deeply and he helped her a lot. Their shared interests and their long, friendly relationship had given them a complete understanding of each other’s character, and this finally developed, after their wedding, into a love that nothing could destroy. According to this novel, the person I admire most is Gabriel Oak, who is a sensible man of good character. He kept his promise that was he should love Bathsheba, and wanted her, and kept on wanting her until he died. No matter Bathsheba refused his proposal completely, no matter Bathsheba apparently said that she didn’t love him, no matter Bathsheba was dating with Mr.Boldwood at the presence of him, or no matter Bathsheba fell in love with Troy and treated him crossly, he had always loved her deeply. He felt lucky that Bathsheba didn’t marry him when his 200 pregnant sheep died and he became a poor man. He worked as a shepherd in Bathsheba’s farm and devoted his life to putting out a big fire on farm in order to save the whole year’s harvest. Although he could rent a farm of his own, he still worked for Bathsheba as her farm manager and kept her company whenever she was down.
