The last column was Self-Centered or Disruptive Roles. “Often” was marked for the clown role only; “occasionally” for the stagehog, “seldom” for the isolate, fighter-controller, and zealot, “do not know” for the blocker and cynic roles. The similarities between my assessment and the assessment of other members in the groups were pretty accurate. Majority marked “often” or “occasionally” for the following roles: initiator-contributor, information seeker, information giver, clarifier-elaborator, feeling expresser, and supporter-encourager. In the Self-Centered or Disruptive Roles, other members put a mark next to a “do not know” column, almost for everything. We completed this exercise right after our first presentation. In that period of time we have met only twice, which is, by my opinion, not enough for the group to analyze each other’s informal roles, strengths and weaknesses. But, according to the informal roles exercise, it was clear that my groups members already discovered some of my strengths and weaknesses in participating in groups. By marking “often” and “seldom” for the information seeker, opinion seeker, initiator-contributor and information giver, my group showed me that I was right with my own predictions.
