...bjective, and follow through in order to reach set goals. In addition our nation experienced many of the same problems as seventh century Europe, such as how to kept the colonies profitable and productive, as well as how best to control the colonies and thus maximizing there usefulness and value. The specific challenges faced by our class in 2062 America were not very different from those faced by Great Britain and Spain in the 1660’s. To begin with, our goals were essentially the same, which were to gain national power through the acquiring of natural and financial resources. Also risk was a major obstacle that threatened each of our nations. Since each nation invested a great deal of money, in our case faith and priority, into creating fruitful colonies which, could have been spent pursuing other ambitions, we each took on a great risk of loss. Another similar challenge was control, which our class, Britain, and to a lesser extent Spain encountered as an increasing problem. For us control was even more difficult because our colony was not even ours, but rather it belonged to the Astro Company until a time of one hundred years had elapsed. Thus maintaining any kind of consistent form of control or influence was almost impossible and resulted in little American benefit. In comparison it was due to a lack of control which allowed for the secession of the American colonies from Britain and formation of what would become 2062 America. When the simulation began my goals as president were basically the same as the class’s, all except for my third goal which was to get reelected and my fourth which was to spend money wisely, instead of the other way around. In terms of decision making I did not agree with the rest of the class from the very first decision made, which was to support an Astro company-controlled asteroid colony. The decision I supported was to establish an asteroid colony controlled entirely by the United States Federal government. If our class had taken this simulation path I have no doubt th...
