A Narrative of the Captivity This story starts off by telling about a slave woman who has a wounded and starving child. The woman is left on a horse for nine days without food and with very little water. She holds he child the whole time until it dies and then she sleeps by its side for the next night. She tells that she usually can’t stand being in the room with a dead person but she doesn’t have that fear anymore, and she sleeps with him anyway. After the woman goes to see the grave of her dead child she wants to go see her daughter in a nearby wigwam. She says that her daughter was sold for a gun, and that they will not let her get close enough to the girl to talk to her.
