Sadly enough, along with the stripping of personal enterprise came the deprivation of basic human rights, especially freedom of speech. Even today, Cuba continues to oppress various liberties without having a worthwhile cause, regardless of whether it is towards Cubans, Americans, or anyone else. Taken from a recent report entitled “China and Cuba Jail Most Journalists” one can see that Cuba is the second leading jailer of journalists, with China being the first. From the article, the statement: “the widespread jailing of journalists is pursued only by those few nations that distrust their own citizens and care little about the opinion of the rest of the world."(Reuters) implies that Cuba’s reasoning for imprisoning these journalists lies in Cuba’s own personal conflicts rather than on the fault of the journalists themselves, therefore demonstrating a clear injustice.
