During the late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century, the United States expansionism was a major continuation of past US expansionism. The only difference in the new century’s expansionism now the frontier was the sea as apposed to the wild west. Throughout early expansionism Manifest Destiny was a key term of the time. The Destiny that God gave Americans, his chosen people, the right to “assimilate” entire cultures and fiercely take their land. Just as our European parents showed us how to take the Atlantic Coast of America, our country 400 years later now took to the water to test its imperialistic legs.
