People pray by the wall because they are desperate and want to see if somehow their messages can get through the cracks. They have no real way of letting the other side of the world know about their pain, their suffering, their despair. They want to let the outside world know what they are going through. They want the outside world to realize their plight. They are afraid that they will be totally and ccmpletely forgotten and desperately do not wish this to happen. The people are upset.
