The Ancient Egyptians centered their lives around the Nile, before and during the use of canal irrigation in Egypt, the Nile Valley could be separated into two parts, the River Basin or the flat area there was also the Red Land or red desert land. The River basin of the Nile was in very different to the rest of the land of Egypt and was rich with wild and water life but the red desert was a flat dry area which had little plants water, no matter what season it was The weather in Ancient Egypt, is nearly the same as current day Egypt, it is almost always hot and dry. The Nile goes through a wet and a dry season. When the banks rose, the water would fill the man-made canals and canal basins and would water the crops for the coming year. With these Water Canals, the Egyptians were able to easily grow tree crops and vegetable gardens in the lower part of the Nile Valley, while at higher parts of the river there were only few plants. Ancient Egyptians had simple farming tools such as winnowing scoops, mattocks, flint-bladed sickles and plows. The Egyptian plow had a small blade on it that didn't cut very deep which was good because the soil was fertile. Ancient Egyptians grew crops such as wheat, barley, vegetables, figs, melons and vines. . They also grew flax which was made into linen. Animals were also very important to Egyptian farmers. Animals helped them with jobs like trampling seeds, pulling the plough, eating unwanted grain and providing the Egyptians with food and drink. They had animals like cows, goats, pigs, ducks and gees...
