... even dreamed of killing the King. The language used is rather complicated and difficult to understand the intended meaning. Macbeth says “The Prince of Cumberland! That is…when it is done, to see. The significance of this in the play is that either Macbeth must fall the Prince of Cumberland, the heir to the throne or he must jump over him as he is in the way to Macbeth becoming king. Macbeth also does not want his desires about becoming king to be known by other people. He does not want people to know that the king is about to die, but he knows that once he is dead people will know anyway. Duncan says “True, worthy Banquo…it is a peerless kinsman.” The significance of this to the play is that Banquo is just as worthy as Macbeth and Duncan wants to make him know this. He wants to ...
