In December 1973 Freddie had one of his biggest breaks this far in life, was asked to perform on “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson”. He was invited back stage after the performance to talk with Johnny, only two other people have been asked to do this. Not long after in 1974 at nineteen years old he won the role of “Chico Rodriquez” in a NBC series called “Chico and the Man”. He released a comedy album in 1975 called “Looking Good”. Freddie was scared to start a family. Women were egger to be with him, but eh didn’t know if it was because they love him or his stardom. Freddie had a short engagement with Kitty Bruce, the daughter of one of his idols late comedian Lenny Bruce. He married Katherine Cochran in august of 1975. The two of them had a son named Freddie Prinze Jr. in 1976. The marriage soon ended. Freddie achieved stardom very quickly. Soon in his career he began having problems handling everything. He turned to drugs such as Quaaludes and cocaine to help him cope. The loss of his wife also traumatized Freddie. He was very unhappy with his life at this point. January 28, 1977 Freddie called friends and family stating he couldn’t handle life anymore. He shot himself in the head. Freddie was rushed to the hospital were he there died at the age of 22.
