The people of the town could only assume what happened to Boo Radley, because his father had never told anyone. Tom Robinson is another person who is a victim to prejudice. When he is tried for raping Mayella Ewell, it is made pretty obvious that he did was not guilty of the crime. It was Bob Ewell who wanted to get back at him, so tried framed him by beating up his daughter. One thing was wrong though, Tom was cripple and could not have caused those types of injuries. But, the jury convicted him of rape, even when all evidence said he isn’t, it was because of the color of his skin. No African American was innocent of a crime, and they always payed for it. The Finches were victims. Atticus was called a “nigger lover” because he wanted to defend Tom because it was what the believed in. Scout was always expected to behave like a lady, whether or not she wanted to. Jem and Scout saw how prejudice affected Tom in the courthouse, and Bob Ewell was mad because children their age could make a “fool of him”.
