Mike does actually take on his own rich owner in an episode called ‘Give ‘Em Enough Rope’ but he acts on information provided by an old ABC friend, and carefully covers himself before trapping his prey. Mike Moore is also lucky- his trip to Bougainville reaps rich rewards as well as a plastic spear! He’s caught in a lie over an “anonymous” video tape, but a convenient scapegoat saves him. His career is nearly ruined by a careless cover shot- but his acquaintance with a beautiful actress gets him off the hook. Poached from the ABC, Mike secretly dreams of ‘making it’ in America,- but one gets the feeling he’s already reached the high point of his career. Brooke Vandenberg Brooke is incredibly ambitious – she will do anything to or with anyone to get to the top. Her classic good looks and style enable her to use sex appeal both on and off the screen. She’ll sleep around or spread rumours of her affairs with famous men (Desert Angel) to raise her profile. Brooke is quite willing to play the game by the set rules – she demands to be seen as a serious journalist, yet never can be accused of being a feminist! And she never worries about ethics. Brooke is impossible to like. In fact, she seems incapable of caring about another human being. She’s rude, arrogant and aloof – until the camera rolls. Then she turns on the charm! Audiences love her, which is why her EP thinks one day she might get Ray Martine’s job. Marty’s sure she’ll soon get Mike’s. But don’t think for a minute she’s stupid.
