Even though, they met under unexpected pretenses, you can tell that “Jim” is very interested in “Alena”. “Jim” and “Alena” meet and she invites him back to the place she is house sitting for. You feel as if you are there in the house with them because the author has written the story through his eyes. “Jim” describes his time with “Alena” as if everything was perfect, until she starts talking about her issues about animal rights. Eventually she convinces him to come protest with her and her fellow activists. Then, she convinces him to illegally free some turkeys from a farm.
