A War In Perspective: Part II
...fficers and crew to support your ship in battle. You are our Flagship Arch, you are in second command of our Navy, and I hope that I made the right Decision in appointing you this position of honor. Your promotion will be in five days Arch, get some rest, find your ship, and report to Helix Prime. I am looking forward to your campaigns against Zio Zera. The UDP has told me to thank you for your operations. Also, we need your negotiation skills to prevent EPD from attempting to declare war on us; those Earth Imperials are siding with Zio Zera. -Warren H. Cartin out- Arch finished the note rather quickly, put it into his PED database, and kept it into mind. Miril, however, was looking out the window, as if he was drifting off in space. “We are here,” Said the driver. Miril gave the driver a Credit Malachite for the drive and walked out, and waited for Arch. Arch soon afterward came out to the Metropolis City, and was dazzled by its glory and triumph. “So where is this Mayor’s office?” Miril looked disappointed, and pointed a huge eight-story building. He then began “You have been in Mar IX for three years, and you don’t even know where the Mayor’s office is? I must say, I am shocked.” “For your information, I haven’t been in this Metropolis. Please remember I didn’t have the luxury of visiting cities, because I was not a Commodore!” Miril looked like he ignored Arch’s comment, and started walking towards the building. Arch, yet again, followed like a prairie dog. They walked towards fabulous Double-Doors. These Double-Doors were made of silver, and engraved with the Paridain symbol on both sides. The work was said to be done in the latter 2090’s. A Vericon, a species of which the Terrans have made allies with after the seventh probe to the Lithrin Galaxy was sent, did the work. This Vericon was different; normally Vericons don’t like to be seen by Terrans, even though they look rather the same as us Terrans, with an exception of a rather long tail, but he showed no mind to showing himself in public. An orderly stood ready at the door, and he quickly opened the door for Miril and Arch as they grew close. “The Mayor wishes to see you as soon as possible,” the orderly said rather quickly, and unprofessionally. The orderly guided Miril and Arch towards the elevator in which was engraved with Green Marble. Could this also be the work of that same Vericon? Arch thought to himself. The orderly pushed the button marked “Floor IV.” Arch looked over to see Miril was thinking. Arch wondered what he was thinking about, because it was not like Miril to be a so much deep thought. In fact, he is known for his well thought, ahead of plans that he thinks of in a matter of seconds. This led him to be the Commodore of Wirbel Wind, which is the finest ship in the Paridain Navy. The door tinged, and opened up. The orderly quickly moved forward, gesturing Arch and Miril to follow him. They walked past a set of halls, seeing people walking about and talking, some of them even stopped and stared at Arch as he walked by. The orderly opened the last set of doors, and bowed to signal them to proceed, and then quickly left. Miril cautiously advanced, for him and Abal were not the best of friends. Actually what happened was that one night when they were both working on the Paladin Missile Project, Abal was working on the security override system while Miril was inspecting if all the procedures gone correct. When from above, Abal accidentally knocked her coffee and it landed all over Miril. Staining forever his favorite suit to wear, not to mention some degree burns, which was healable. “Took you long enough” Abal said quickly as she turned around, with her eyes glaring around Miril. You could tell she was not happy, she is a very quick person, wants things to get done as quickly as possible. “We got caught up in traffic,” Miril said “Very funny, liar. And anyway, why are you here? It is only he who should be here!” “Fine. I was just leaving anyway.” You could tell Miril was mad, his eyes showed it, and it seemed like a flicker of light bleamed in them. With haste, he moved out of the room, and then accidentally walked into an orderly on the way out. “Anyway Arch, let’s get down to business,” she said as she turned back into Arch’s direction, “Warren has ordered that I help you look for your new ship, so let us get to the Space Dock shall we? I have arranged for a shuttle to come pick us up on top of this building on the confirmation zone, so come with me. We are going to the Adrica Docking Bay, the second finest in our Navy.” Arch sighed, and proceeded to follow her when something caught his eye. An odd looking Fladge Jewel was on one of her paintings across the room. The Fladge Jewel represents death, in a cruel and painful manner. On the picture was Death standing over a village as it burned, the painting looked authentic. A cold chill went down Arch’s spine. She is crazy, I swear, Arch thought. “Are you coming or not?” Abal muttered. “Yes, I was just thinking about something.” A few Moments later the shuttle arrived, it was named Helix Spawn. Helix is the name of Paridain’s main planet. And Spawn is the name of the sun of Paridain’s solar system. Whoever made this shuttle must be very patriotic. “Get on board” Abal said. Arch got inside the shuttle, and Abal followed shortly behind. The shuttle shortly there after retracted its legs, took off, and flew. “So what ship do you have in mind?” Abal Began. “It depends; I want a durable ship with Laser Torpedoes, not Laser Converts.” “They always do…” “Excuse me?” “What you commodore’s need to realize is that Laser Torpedoes have a grave weakness, they use twice as much energy, and only do fifty percent more damage then Converts, they have also extra reloading time. Besides the fact that they do indeed have more slots to fire from than a Convert does.” “Sure, whatever you think.” Abal grunted softly after Arch’s last statement, and looked the other way. “ETA is about fifteen minutes, get ready guys,” interrupted one of the pilots. “Ahem,” Abal grunted. “And gals…” Abal was staring off into space. She looked pretty mad, she was always easy to upset, and in fact she had some enemies. “She attained rank of Mayor only because Cartin likes her,” some people say. But that in fact is not true; she earned it because of her years of being a public official. Her invention of the Trel Beam, which is onl...
