...pinion that would be ill fitting coming from a child, such as the knowledge that the streak of light was probably something completely harmless, it would be inappropriate to have this coming form child Jane since in the next instance she screams out in fear. The other reason this method is used is one of atmosphere, by having the narrator switch it really makes the reader feel like the story is actually being recited. Another method the author uses to add realism is vagueness, there are sections of the book ware Jane is unable to precisely repeat the events that took place as she cant satisfactorily remember them ; “The next thing I remember is…” This adds a considerable sense of realism that once again makes the reader feel that the story is actually being recited from life experience and is not a work of fiction. This feeling is enforced by the way in which sever parts of the early chapters are written in that is obviously a Childs perspective, such as when Jane is listening the Bessie and Sarah talking together in the nursery, but cant properly comprehend what it is they are talking about. “I caught snatches of there convocation from which I was only able too distantly to infer the main subject discussed” This creates an interesting situation; adult Jane presumably will have been aware of what there discussion was about however chooses not to inform the reader for atmospheric reasons, by leaving the impression of child Jane being unaware of her situation it helps to strengthen the sense of pity that has been being invoked in the reader thus...
