Moral Manifesto
...en, not the 18 year old who has a consensual relationship with a 16year old. More often than not, they get released from prison and commit their heinous crimes again. I would love to see them in prison for the rest of their lives…or on an island by themselves. They need to be kept away from children. v I believe in that everyone is entitled to a higher education, if they want it. While I don’t believe that the government should pay for everyone’s education, there are plenty of programs out there to assist and to help those who need the financial assistance. There should be no excuse to not get a higher education if that is what you truly want. v I believe in equality for everyone. I think that everyone should be given the same rights and opportunities. There should be no discrimination because of your race or gender v I believe that there needs to be a better system to protect battered women and abused children and harsher punishment for the abuser. Many women are not taken seriously or they don’t want to press charges because they are afraid. They need to feel safer. v I believe that we should be able to stop paying welfare to a mom who has more that a certain number of children, or to require her to be on some type of birth control. She needs to be responsible for what she does with her body. Yes, I know this contradicts my early statement of a woman’s right to choose but this is a different situation. v I believe in stem cell research and the use of embryos for research. While I don’t think it is right to produce embryo’s just for the sake of research, there are hundred’s of thousand embryo’s sitting in research hospital’s all over the world that could be used to develop a cure for cancer or Alzheimer’s. v I believe that we should give out needles to drug users. While I don’t believe in supporting drug users, I do want to help stop the spread of AIDS/HIV and other diseases transmitted by sharing dirty needles. I DON’T BELIEVE: v In affirmative action… a person should be promoted, or accepted into college based on their abilities and the job they can perform, not on the color of their skin or gender v In our welfare system, or at least the way it is run today. While I do believe in some type of welfare system, I feel that our system is greatly abused and a large percentage of people in it our abusing it. I also believe that some people are lazy and just use the welfare system to get by and the more babies they have the more money they get. I do feel that the welfare system does help and some people are in the system because they have been dealt a bad hand and our trying to improve their life and that of their family. The single mom whose husband left her and she now has children to raise and no college education is going back to school…yes we should help her. The single mom who has no desire to improve her life or that of her children and keeps having children, no I don’t feel like we should continue to help her. v I don’t believe in placing blame for everything that goes wrong in your life on others. Yes, someone may have had a role in it but y...
