Shortly after, Abigail was talking to John Proctor and commented on his relationship with Elizabeth, “Oh marvel how such a strong man may let such a sickly wife be…” (Act 1). Abigail wanted Elizabeth gone and out of Salem, she wanted it more then life itself. Abigail Williams was known to be very promiscuous through out the town of Salem. She was once intimate with John, which caused the conflict between her and Goody Proctor. Elizabeth refused to “…sit so close to something soiled.” (Act 1). During the trial when Abigail was admitting her wrongs, John Proctor cries out, “How do you call heaven? Whore! Whore!” (Act 3). Abigail was known as everything but innocent around Salem. Abby’s most obvious trait in the play was the fact that she was full of deceit. She blames others, innocent young girls and even adults for crimes she herself had committed.
