Deirdre on the other hand is a character who is seeking the truth about her father. Her aim is not neccessarly to find her father but to be part of a stable family unit one in which she can be loved. As the end of the play suggest she finds the love she is craving for in Marie. Unlike Deirdre Marie is a character who is avoiding the truth. Deep down she knows that her husband has had affairs but she refuses to believe this. Marie is a woman who idolises her husband this is clear from the way she has hung michaels picture which dominates the living room.
