People had been “fighting” for a while but the real hardcore stuff happened when the third estate broke into the Palace of Bastilles on July 14th, 1789. Some say the reason they broke in was to free prisoners but, it is more likely that they wee getting ammo and supplies. Soon the people broke up into 2 main groups. These groups fought throughout the Revolution. The two main groups of the Revolution were the Jacobnbins and the Girondists. The Jacobins supported terror. They were led by Maximilien Robespierre. They led the idea that they should kill their opposition, which, soon this idea took their own leaders life. (M. Robespierre executed by guillotine July 27th, 1794.) During this groups ultimate power it was known as the Reign of Terror because so many people were killed from their actions. (Over 40,000 people killed.)
