He had all the girls and was a hero in his hometown. However, his academics were not good enough to make himself graduate from high school; He flunked math. Since then, he has not really held a real life, wandering from place to place. Likewise, Willy also experienced some success as a salesman in his younger days. He was making good money, doing good for his company by helping it to expand in new regions. However, he has changed as time went on. Now in his old days, Willy does not perform well like old days. Willy’s life goes downhill and ends up getting fired from his company. Strong contrasts between two characters are apparent. Willy, who lived his whole life as a salesman had family members who inspired him: his father and his brother. His father had a great financial success in Alaska, and his brother also had a great success in Africa. Both of them started as an ordinary salesman and are adorned by Willy. Willy lives his life while trying to aspire their successes and achievements. But for Biff, there is no one in his family who inspires him. Willy has not been so successful, especially in his later days. Happy is just a lazy bum and sycophant who only says what people want to hear. A major difference, however, lies on the way that each of them perceives their lives. Willy has a strong belief in American Dream of easy success and wealth, but he never becomes really successful. He is unable to accept his miserable reality and life, so he is constantly searching himself through hallucinated trip to his past.
