LOOK PASS THE BAD

...reads: Why do bad things happen to bad people? Well this question is a little easier to answer right? I mean we don’t usually mind thinking about bad things happening to bad people, as long as we aren’t the bad person that we are talking about. However, It is a very unpleasant thought to think, “I am a bad person.” And generally we don’t want to think about that. We want to think that we are good people and the people that we love are good people. But if we are honest with ourselves we know that we aren’t, and we would do just about anything to keep everyone else fooled into thinking that we are good. Have you ever stopped to wonder why? Why is it so important to me that other people think that I am a good person? I think it is because inside all of us there is a desire way down deep in our souls for purity. See, I believe that men and women were made in the image of God. The Bible teaches us this in Genesis. We also learn in Genesis that when God created them He made them with the intent that they live in perfect unity with Him. Now remember, we already defined goodness as the state of being "morally perfect or pure". But we also said that man couldn't be called good. So what happened? Why were we once able to live in perfect unity with God and now we can't? Well, the Bible teaches us that Adam and Eve (these were the first people) rebelled against God and chose to do things their way instead of God's way. Because of this decision, every person born after that was by nature rebellious against God. None of us are able to be good or to be like God because our nature from the time we are born is at enmity with God. Ok, you may be wondering, so is that it no one can be good so lets just give up and do what we want? Or maybe I should just try harder to be good and that will somehow get me into Heaven. (Heaven by the way is the place we all want to go when we die. No one really wants to go to Hell - Remember we were made to want to be with God. Hell is the absence of God entirely and it is a terrible place to be) But we both know that even when we try harder we can't be good all the time. We mess up a lot. The Bible teaches that every time we mess up (or sin) that we are sentencing ourselves to death or Hell. And since we mess up a lot and the God who runs the universe wants us to be "morally perfect or pure". I think we need a new question again. I mean, I mess up and sin all the time. The question now reads: Why do good things happen to bad people? Humm. Now this is a question that might be new for some people. We don't usually think about things this way, but most of us don't like the thought of good things happening to bad people because we aren't usually thinking about ourselves as one of the bad people. We think good things should happen to us beca...
