...of the others hated it. It was a nonstop run, meaning we couldn’t walk! After the run, all the girls formed a semicircle for stretching and jumping. The seniors were in charge of teaching us the tryout material, but the coaches would come around to supervise. As the coaches would walk by, they would take notes on each girl, and this distracted us. No one knew what they were writing either, so it made us nervous. We did our jumps one at a time, so everyone had their attention on you. So as my turn came I prayed I wouldn’t make a mistake! After about two hours of stretching and jumping, the coaches dismissed us for a ten minute rest and water break. After the ten minute break we all had to report back to our group instructors to learn the tryout dance. They taught us the dance and took our unequal lines, and turned them into a nice formation. The end of the day had almost arrived and it was time for us to get up in front of an audience and perform our jumps, cheers, and the dance we learned. As I watched all the groups take their turn, I could pretty much predict who would or wouldn’t make it. After all the other groups went, the finally called my group last. I went up to the floor with confidence, knowing I had all the material memorized backwards and forwards in my head. There was a woman there with a video camera to capture the dance on film.
