...says that two complete strangers should kill a person in each others life that is an inconvenience. Guy’s stop approaches and in the mist of leaving Guy just agrees with Bruno and telling him that it’s a great idea. Bruno thought that Guy was serious and he went and killed Guy’s wife Miriam. Method is very important to any film, because it is the way a message is expressed. There are many ways to express the message and sometimes more than one style. Symbolism plays a tremendous role in the movie; one significant object is a gold cigarette lighter that belongs to Guy. That lighter is significant because many things happen because of that lighter; for example Bruno gets a hold of the lighter and he can use it to frame Guy for the murder of his wife. So Guy does whatever he can to get that lighter back. Another method is argument. Ever since Miriam was killed Guy tries to prove his innocence. While trying to convince everyone of his innocence, he argues and fights for the truth. The medium in this case is film. It is a fairly old film from the 1950’s and it’s black and white. As a film it comes across very strong when it comes to presenting the message. If this story was in a book or a magazine the message of not to trust a stranger wouldn’t be as strong as it is in a movie. Because in a book, most people have to be imaginative and be able to picture the book come to life, but in a film the imaginative part is already covered. Mise-en-Scene mainly concerns movies. It is the arrangement of scenery and properties to represent the movie. Many things are to be noted when discussing for example color, lighting, costumes, camera angles, acting, etc. In this particular film the color is obviously black and white, but the tone of the colors are different. In some cases the more superior figure in a scene will usually wear a dark color of clothing to show their importance. Which brings me into the costumes and clothing; it was mostly suits and dresses from the 1950’s with the indication of importance by the color of the clothing. Lighting plays a significant role in the film, especially towards the end of the movie where Bruno tries to hide his face in the darkness. Most of the time the lighter the lighting shows a good presence, while darkness shows an evil feeling and a mix of both sometime shows...
