Movie Review: The Jungle Book
...here Khan o Voice of Shere Khan near the end of his career Summary In the beginning, we are introduced to Bagheera. He is a black cougar who happens to find a “man cub” in a basket in the jungle. He considered just leaving it alone but he remembered a family of wolves that recently had a little pack of their own so he decided to let them take care of him. Ten years later, Bagheera finds out that Shere Khan, the villainous tiger of the jungle, is going to kill the boy that Bagheera had given to the wolves. His name is Mowgli. Bagheera decides to take Mowgli back to the “man-village.” Mowgli wants to stay in the jungle so he is resisting Bagheera as much as he can. Bagheera then decides to let him have his way and leaves him to fend for himself. Mowgli then meets Baloo and after a brief boxing lesson, they decide to become “partners in crime.” Strengths and Weaknesses The movie The Jungle Book is a timeless classic, just like many other Disney animations. However, this one sticks out in my mind for two reasons. One is that it has a jazzy upbeat mood to the whole movie, except of course when Mowgli gets into trouble. It has the ability to put anyone in a good mood, no matter what the circumstances. The second reason it sticks out in my mind is because it was my favorite movie as a child. I remember watching this movie once or twice a day whenever I left of preschool for the day. It could literally keep me amused for hours at a time. Even though I’ve seen the movie hundreds of times, I still found myself tapping my feet to the music. I even laughed out loud at some of the funny parts in the movie.
