...y grandfather had diabetes, he died from a major heart attack. My uncle died of prostate cancer and my other uncle died from a heart attack. According to the textbook and most articles, heart disease and cancer are the leading causes of death in the United States. In fact, heart disease and cancer have been linked to nutrition and exercise. I believe that most of cancers can be prevented because they are caused by environmental, dietary or nutritional factors as stated in the textbook. The most common cancers in the United States are colon cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. I found that these cancers are linked to consumption of fat, red meat, and toxins in diet. And the bad cholesterol, LDL, are found in animal meat, butter and other fatty foods cause this. Not surprisingly, many people are unfamiliar with this relentless perpetual warning to not consume these fatty foods. I believe that heart disease is responsible for one out of two deaths. For example, more people die of heart disease than are killed by cancer, AIDS, infectious disease, homicide and accidents combined. From my own knowledge, I feel that people are dying of heart diseases because of the fat and toxins that we eat. Ironically, RDA still recommends 30 percent of the total diet should come from fat. Fat is a necessity in the diet to maintain good health. Our bodies’ stores energy in forms of fat, and it provides the energy needed to perform work. This also goes the same for animals as well such as the cows and pigs we consume. Animals can store large amounts of toxins and wastes in their fatty tissues. The fatter the piece of meat is, the greater the potential that toxins can store. Pesticides are being sprayed on our land and the cattle that graze on the grass are ingesting them. These harmful substances are immediately stored in their fat. So next time you’re eating meats such as steaks or ribs, you're also ingesting the carcinogens it contains. Unfortunately, cancers usually attack the fattest portions of the human body because that’s where the toxins are stored. For example, cancer attacks women in their breast and attacks men in their prostate. As for my family’s history, I don’t see a negative impact because I am aware of how to prevent any diseases from attacking. My family’s history of heart attacks and cancer are ca...
