This name is somewhat deceptive, because there is little similarity between Rosh Hashanah, one of the holiest days of the year, and the American midnight drinking bash and daytime football game. But In islam we celebrate the beginning of the year with an different reason that is The Birth Date of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). Even not the all countries are using Islamic Calendar that’s called Hicri calendar but there are some that use it instead of Gorgonian and Jewish calendar. Yom Kippur is the day which is occurring in the fall on Tishri 10 (Tishri is the seventh month of the ecclesiastical year in the Jewish calendar). The Day of Atonement The holiest and most solemn day in the Jewish calendar In temple times, this was the day the High Priest would approach the throne of God in the Holy of Holies to seek atonement for the sins of the people Marked by fasting and abstinence from marital relations and use of cosmetics and toiletries. "Day of Atonement” A solemn day of fasting and prayer concluding ten days of penitence that began on Rosh Hashanah and we have almost similar days that are called Ramadan Month. In this month, we start fasting from almost an hour before sunrise till sunset. Another observance required of Jewish men is that praying in at least both the morning and night and to make time for Torah study. Many women have also taken on these requirements on a volunteer basis but in Islam its five and mandatory. One of them before sunrise while everyone is sleeping another one is almost on the lunchtime. Third one is about two hours before sunset and forth one at the time of sunset and the final one is at midnight. Moreover in this month we have an additional praying that is called Terawih. We fast thirty days, and it is not optional and also fasting period is equal for male and female except female’s special days. Because in this time, it not allowed to do any holy things without ablution, even touching the holy book Quran is not allowed. The person should be pure while doing holy things. Probably, some people would think it is hyperbolic but it shows a respect.
