She speaks her mind to let Creon know that he is inferior to the all-mighty and powerful Gods. Going against the authority of King Creon for her rights, Antigone is truly a heroine in the play to fight for her fallen brother’s respect. Of course Antigone defies stereotypical women who would, if placed in Antigone's situation, crawl back into their little holes and conform to their suppressed gender roles. It is obvious to say that Antigone has defied society for speaking her mind, but it is evident that she has in fact become far greater than even men in her society. Centuries later, the world of today still has sexist ideals from women being considered "weak" to often being given the second-class roles in society. For instance, sexist discrimination results in the workplace today as a woman who works equally as hard as a man receives pay, as one can see this is not fair. Also, never has there been a female president or vice president in the nation today to guide the American people. Thus, a revolutionary female character defying unjust laws such as Antigone ...
