Causes to Join Gangs

...times when these youth do well in anything and look for their family’s support, however they do not get any in return. This leads to them going elsewhere to find supporting people that care for their achievements no matter what they may be. Young people then look for escapes from reality, which usually means joining gangs. At school these youth look for an escape from their family life, yet there isn’t always a way out. There may always be issues at school as well as at home. Sometimes there are youth that have antisocial issues or are picked on so severely that they want to have revenge, but they cannot carry out this task alone. Thus, they join a gang to help them with their social problems. In addition to social problems, they may also be doing horribly in their education. They believe that education will not help them make very much money as soon as they would like. Therefore, they drop out of school and find illegal ways of making money that they believe will make them rich in a short amount of time. Money can also be a major factor in the life of a gangster. Peer pressure to have the major necessities can cause a person to do anything to get them. Financial problems also make people very stressed, because of this type of stress young adults look for a way to escape. Some believe that selling drugs will make them wealthy, because they see drug dealers driving in Escalades and having a wonderful lifestyle. Many times they find that if they join a gang they will have all the things that they have always wanted. They also feel that all their problems will diminish and they can do anything they want. Also, they believe that they will become independent and will no longer be forced to live by someone else’s rules.
