Kanye West lets out his emotions and true feelings in the song by showing how much he cares for his grandmother and what he is willing to do to get her any help that she needs. Also, he wants to bring to the forefront that people without as much money do not get the same type or quality of medical treatment as the people who are rich. People can be very inconsiderate as well, and Kanye West wanted touch on this subject as well. Sometimes celebrities get over looked as having feeling also, so it doesn’t matter what they are doing, we want to get that autograph or picture with them no matter what. “That’s where I get my confidence from / I asked the nurse did you do the research? / She asked me “ can you sign some t-shirts? / Bitch is you smoking reefer? / You don’t see that we hurt.” The nurse could have found a better time to ask for Kanye to sign the shirts seeing as how Kanye West and his family were in a tough time in their life. The song is entitled “Roses” because all the family hears the bad news of the sick loved one and rushes home, even though they go to the hospital. But instead of sending their sick loved one flowers, they bring themselves and that is who Kanye West implies as being the Roses. “I think we at an all time high / To get there we run, we fly, we drive / Coz with my family we know where home is / So instead of sending flowers/ We the roses….” Flowers are good and everything but there is not anything like being there for your loved one when they need you the most. It does not matter what is going on in your life, when a crisis with a family member occurs that becomes the most important thing and everything else is put on the back burners. “My grandfather trying to pull it together, he strong / That is where I get my confidence from.” Trials and tribulations are apart of life, and it is family that we count on to keep us going when we come across an obstacle. Another important quote from the song is “Let me see the X-rays / I ain’t not expert, I’m just hurt.” He knows he doesn’t know anything about reading an X-ray, but the pain that he has for his grandma is making him feel like he has to something, anything, to help her.
