...h is very much like nature. Who knows where and when was the earth created. It is almost impossible to tell. And from what it seems like, the triangles keep going and going in a similar pattern around the mosaic with no end in sight. It is absolutely amazing how perfectly symmetrical the triangles really are. The cutting of the stones and marbles is really a unique gift that is portrayed in the mosaic. The inner border consists of three lines inter-weaving each other. The lines each have their own unique and individual color: brown, orange, and blue. The lines represent different entities: the gods and goddesses, nature, and humankind. All three forces need to each other to perform correctly in harmony. Along the path of the weave, there are four flames blocking the way. These flames represent life’s hindrances. The weaves move around the flames and return to their normal route. This shows that with perfect harmony between the three entities, nothing can block the way of the weave. Bordering the four corners of the hunting scenes are series of brown alternating arrows, very similar to the very outer border of the mosaic. Closer into the center of the mosaic is yet another border edging the portraits of Diana and Callisto. This border is very wide and depicts different men hunting. This scene is the first thing that will catch one’s eye as he or she first looks at the mosaic. The scene shows the profiles of men with their hunting dogs going after wild deer and rabbits. The hunters are created around the same size as the deer they are hunting to make the deer look massive. Another hunter is using his two dogs, one black one brown, to catch a rabbit.
