...ividual is entirely up to the individual. There is no simple way to describe the Taoist principle completely except: to not expect to expect, or simply to think about thinking. Another way may be to describe the Tao as a question, to which there are no answers to be expected or just answers that are rhetorical. On the other hand, this philosophy differs entirely from the Ying Yang because of the “way” of life verses the “equal” balance of nature. Ying Yang is always some degree of the opposite of anything or all that exists, no matter to what unimportance. Ying is complimentary to Yang as Yang is to Ying to form an equal balance between everything that is opposite. In this philosophy, everything has an opposite, the bigger the difference, the bigger the attraction, each side referred to as the Ying and the Yang. One unique aspect of the Ying Yang is that there is no end to its theory. Black is white, front is back, reverse is forward, near is far, future is now. This is different than Taoism, or the “way”, which can be viewed as a “roadway to salvation” or a much simpler approach. The two together, Taoism and Ying Yang, have the similarities of viewing one’s life as a never ending challenge to live happy and prosperous. However, how one is to pursue this life can be to some extent spiritual and mystical.
