Forgiveness
... made a misery out of her life. THIS ladies and gentlemen leads to my topic – THE PHENOMENA AND IMPORTANCE OF FORGIVENESS. Forgiveness is the essential ingredient to a positive and stronger life. Each one of us here in this room, at one time or another needs to forgive or be forgiven. WRONGS have been done, injustices suffered, conflicts that divide, unless rectified and resolved will haunt and hurt us forever. We then are faced with feelings of hatred poisoning our lives and imprisoning us in the past. This is why forgiveness is of such paramount significance in our time, a time which is so full of the many rifts that can occur in human relationships. Mutually giving and receiving forgiveness destroys resentment and discontent. It leads to a realisation of the negativity of soured relationships and recognition of the value of reconciliation. Forgiveness holds the promise that we will find inner peace that we all desire. It promises our release from the hold that another’s attitudes and actions have over us. It awakens us to the truth of our goodness and holds the sure assurance that we will be able to increasingly unburden ourselves from the emotional turmoil and move on to feeling better about ourselves and life. Pardoning is a sign of true inner strength. When we forgive we understand that we don’t need our anger and hatred to protect ourselves. We don’t need pain as a crutch anymore. Forgiveness is something we do for ourselves. SOMETIMES a door may be slammed shut in your face because of disagreement dynamite. Do not wait for it to be opened from the other side. You have the key to unlock it. You can do so with determination by showing a forgiving nature. The strongest lock will give way to these virtues, and those who are separated by that ugly door, will meet again to rebuild a fulfilling companionship. Let no door stay closed for too long, as the lock might get rusty and refuse to open...
