Obviously it could not be disputed because every person who wants to speak badly of the United States or practice their religion in peace can do that without worrying, and if they are denied these rights they will demand their first amendment rights. For example, if someone was to print an article in the newspaper about their negative feelings toward the government, and was arrested the next day for making the government look bad, that person could claim first amendment rights which covers all of his alleged crimes. In Iraq, they do not have rights that the first amendment allows and therefore a dictator can easily thrive. The government there enforces that one religion is practiced, one political view is shared and that everyone obeys and does not want to petition or write incriminating words. With the amendments to choose from in my opinion the next important amendment would be the fourteenth. This requires the states to give everyone equal protection under the law. This is what the United States is based on today. Anyone who comes to the U.S. from another country and is not a favored nationality of those who live in that state, will be granted the same rights that everyone else in the state and can not be denied their rights at any time. The biggest effect of this amendment was on the black slaves in the U.S. at the time. This amendment guaranteed them the rights set out in the constitution, no matter what skin color or social status. Next, would be the Fifth Amendment right because it gives common people protection against an incriminating government. The concept of innocent until proven guilty is extremely important for people to be able to defend themselves and have a fair trial. This amendment also ranks with the sixth amendment because that guarantees everyone the right to a fair trial before they are placed in jail for whatever period of time the government wants.
