A simple analysis of the Olympic Game's economics effect in China

Of course, the Olympic Games is a huge present granted by whole world and most Chinese consider it as a chance to let the world understand and accept them. Moreover, they think of it as a critical point or crossroad in their development. You can imagine how this creates complicated emotions for China and the Chinese. While still some of western countries are hesitant to embrace their neighbour, and afraid of that China will bring them into disaster, more and more foreign corporations with their investment dollars and advanced technology and crowding into China in order to explorer this emerging market. Frankly speaking, they have realized what they dreamed: high profits, low cost in human resources, wonderful investment conditions, an independent and unique culture, excellent Chinese food, etc. Everything seems as in perfect. All of these contributed to China’s rise and the development of their Olympic mascots, which stand to generate significant revenues. The Beijing Olympics will cost an estimated $38 billion, and Chinese government has tried to turn this into an opportunity to pursue other Chinese goals. With a world-wide trend towards integrating national economics, from my point of view, China and its people view the Olympic Games as a window in which to exhibit its charms and economic energy; a key to open a locked, heavy, ancient door that will trigger the powerful Chinese economic engine. Furthermore, we have to admit that it will remove many of the blinders westerners have on in regard to China. It will show a vivid China for investors or guests. Many manufacturers and celebrities, for instance sports facility manufacturers and sports stars, will have an absolute terrific chance to see the real China and not just the impressions they receive from newspaper or television any more. Meanwhile, it will attract innumerable travelers who will enjoy delicious Chinese food and at the same time, contribute to their salaries of Chinese workers. Besides, let’s have a look what Olympics will bring for China. Imagine the whole of the Olympics as a production chain, where everything related to it is branded, license or patented. Sales of licensed products or use logo of Olympics, will bring hundreds of millions in profits, let it alone intangible values, which is part of benefits taken by the Game. Frankly speaking, whether from a short-run or long-run point of view, the Olympics are not just about sports, but also economics, and culture. Nowadays, China is a hot topic for it is speed of Chinese development. Even some Americans speak out that our next age will belong to China.
