Analysis of Lady MacBeth and Masculinity

Lady MacBeth is very influential in many of the decisions of MacBeth and she questions his masculinity after he is unable to complete simple tasks involving the murder of King Duncan. Lady MacBeth feels that a man should have no fear, should be remorseless, and when striving for a power a man should be ambitious and in the play these are the qualities that her husband MacBeth lacks shown from such events as when he is unable to leave the dagger in Duncan’s chamber after killing him because he is so mortified. Lady MacBeth’s view on Masculinity is one that a man should be bold and courageous, yet able to handle mentally demanding things such as the guilt of killing an honorable and gracious king. She realizes that MacBeth is a great warrior and fights valiantly, but she questions his ability to be remorseless and to have no fear. When MacBeth must kill Duncan in order to become king, Lady MacBeth tells him to leave the bloodied dagger in the chamber with the guards to make the people think that the guards committed the murder....
