Hamlett Essay

... less than one month after his father’s death. “Heaven and earth, must I remember? Why, she would hang on him as if increase of appetite had grown by what it fed on. And yet, within a month…” – (I.ii.146-149). His depression soon transforms into anger, when he meets the spirit of his father, which tells him that his uncle Claudius murdered King Hamlet. Many people make irrational decisions when they are put in a position where they are very hurt by a person they truly despise. However, Hamlet is like a man of thought. He first wonders if everything the spirit said was true. He wonders if the spirit was from hell and was trying to make him do the wrong thing. Hamlet quickly realizes that he must discover if his father was murdered by Claudius. As the plot develops, Hamlet discovers that Claudius really did murder his father. The spirit comes yet again and reminds him that he must avenge his father’s death. At one point in the story, Hamlet finds Claudius in a small room, praying. Laertes and Hamlet both get wounded by a poisoned sword that Laertes used. Laertes is aware that both him, Hamlet and Gertrude were all poisoned. He feels quite guilty for the death of an innocent life. As he is dying he asks Hamlet for forgiveness. He tells Hamlet that they were all poisoned and that Claudius made the poisoned cup.
