Oklahoma Bombing
...ttackes on United States soil. This essay I will explore the horrible events of the Oklahoma City Bombing which ended the lives of to many innocent citizens. On Wednesday, April 19, 1995 a seeminly normal rental truck was parked on the north side of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building . Everyone ignorant to the fact that the truck contained enough explosives to wipe out hudreds of people and many buildings. Within the rental truck there was 5000 pounds of explosive material composed of ammonium nitrate, agricultural ferilizer and nitromethane. At 9:02 the bomb exploded, it was such a massive explosion employies from buildings away remembered being thrown from the blast. The entire front of the buliding was demolished , debris from the blast filled the scene two stories high. The blast created a crater eight feet deep and twenty feet in diameter. The floors of the once to be nine story buliding collapsed one after the other on top of eachother. At 11 am the rescure workers and to come to a halt when another bomb was reptorted to be seen which delayed the serch for an hour and a half just when they began getting to people. The effect if the bomb was immense leaving several homless and many officies having to be shut down. Over 12ooo people joined the ont reliek and rescue operations in the days following the blast. The horror of the event was multiplied when the first little body from the daycare centre was pulled from the rubble.
