... In 1990, an opportunity arose for my father to relocate to the United States. I too seized this opportunity and moved with him. The reason for my relocating with my father was to fulfill my life long dream of studying Accounting in a U.S. higher institution, Unfortunately, when my father and I arrived in the U.S., this dream was abandoned due to a tragic accident that incapacitated my father, so I was not able to enroll in any school to pursue my education in Accounting. However, my hope was not lost, because in 2003 when my father’s health picked up, I enrolled at the College to pursue my dream course, which is Accounting. Since I enrolled at College, my interaction with the Accounting Department and the courses I have taken so far have made me become so fascinated with Accounting that I do not want to let go. To strengthen my knowledge, I obtained a part-time job as a Computer Assistant. I am also working as a volunteer in the Computer Project department under the auspices of the Maryland State Government. This job which is very challenging and requires great attention to details, has exposed me to the technology side of Accounting. The more I study Accounting, the more I want to know about it. My future career is to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) especially, in tax matters. Given my high expectations for further education, I believe that a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is another step in the right direction to meeting my career goal. As a student from a low-income family, I know that a good background and interest in Accounting will change my future, so I work hard at College to maintain a good grade point average.
