...he was dancing on the bar he was doing ok, but when he tried to do it without the bar he had realized that he couldn’t dance unless he had the bar by his side. He didn’t have any balance or coordination, so he said; “If I can’t dance without the bar then I will take it with me.” He loved dancing so much that he was determined to do what his true passion was which was and maybe still is dancing. Dance Historians Have defined Luigi’s style of dancing as classic Jazz, elegant, sophisticated, and even liquid fire. Since Luigi never stopped doing what he loved so much his exercise routine he created for his own rehabilitation after paralyzing accident became the world’s first complete technique for learning jazz dance. As we all Know Luigi’s name is not really Luigi his real name is Louis Facciuto but the name Luigi came from Gene Kelly. I have no clue why he gave him that nickname but obviously “Luigi” liked it and it has been with him ever since. By himself Luigi started creating stretching exercises that helped him discover what had to be done to control the body. After he learned all of his exercises he regained enough strength and equilibrium to start dance classes again at Falcon Studios in Hollywood. In 1956, Luigi was brought to New York City to perform in the Broadway show “happy Hunting” with Ethel Merman and Fermando Lamas which were two other choreographers. He danced and assisted choreographers on three more Broadway shows before dedicating himself to sharing his method; he opened “The first World jazz Center.” Luigi stresses the importance of using the body properly, telling students to take time and fell what you are doing. The world recognized Luigi’s artistry by inviting him to give master classes throughout the north and South America, England, France, Hungary, Italy, South Africa and Japan. He has served on the faculty for the harness Ballet School, High School for the performing Arts. Luigi’s talents and perseverance have given him the opportunity to work in every part of show business, from buresque to Hollywood musicals, Broadway and beyond. His method is taught today by not only himself, but by his students in schools and colleges all over the world.
